Promising review: Perfect fit for 2008 Wrangler JK

Spring snapped on the original brake handle. This was an exact fit in a 2008 Wrangler JK. Remove all screws from the center console.

Prop up the back of the console with a piece of wood. Disconnect cables and unbolt the original handle. Bolt-in new handle and attach cables. (4 bolts in total)

The mechanic's instructions state the entire center console must be removed, but there's enough room to swap the handle just from the back.

Cut a piece of wood 10-14 inches long or have a family member hold the console up while you remove and install the bolts.

*Note, that the new handle comes with a spring retaining clip. Do not remove the clip until the handle is bolted in place and the brake cables are attached.

If you do, the spring is released early and you can toss the handle in the garbage.

You might think you cannot squeeze the new handle through the console slot with the spring retaining clip in place, but, you can and must. It fits. Do it.- no comment

Promising Review: Exact fit for my 2015 JK

I have had issues with my E brake for some time and on a recent wheeling trip, it finally let go and quit working entirely. It took longer to remove the console than for the installation of the Brake lever itself.

In my case, the bracket that held the cables for the rear brakes had broken and allowed the handle to basically move freely. Install was simple and straightforward.

A quick youtube search allowed me to remove the console without any damage which made the installation much easier. I know some can do it without removing the console but it will hinder you from removing the nuts and for me, I prefer it out of my way.

I think my e brake is working better than it ever has and am quite happy I did not pay anyone to do it. It's a simple fix that most of you can do.- Carl
